Intended Audience & Aims: This 3-hour live webinar is aimed at RO DBT clinicians who are actively applying RO DBT in their practice and would like to improve their RO skills. The webinar has been developed to go beyond the basics of RO DBT and will be most beneficial to those who have been seeing several clients and/or have been delivering RO DBT skills classes for some time. It will identify the common problems/difficulties seen in supervision and problem-solve the struggles of doing RO DBT effectively. The goal is to help clinicians move towards adherence, whilst also addressing specific challenges clinicians are finding when learning and applying this treatment.
Content Level: Advanced – it is assumed that you have completed at least part of the RO DBT training (completed Part 1 intensive or started Level 2 blended learning) and have a professional qualification in the mental health field (e.g. psychology, social work).
Description: Getting better at RO DBT is one of the best ways to getting your clients out of their hell. The teaching during this interactive webinar will be based on supervisors’ observations of common problems that are blocking RO clinicians’ effectiveness, as well as any issues or problems you as an audience member bring to the webinar.
This is a problem-solution oriented webinar, and active audience participation is expected in the form of polls, role-plays and other exercises. Before the webinar you will be asked to complete a pre-webinar survey in which you can indicate what types of issues you have come across regularly. For some questions you will be asked to write a vignette (a brief ‘story’) and be ready to role-play this with the trainer if your vignette gets selected.
Learning Objectives. After attending this webinar, you will be able to:
- Identify your own RO DBT struggling points from the list of most common errors seen in supervision
- Problem-solve stylistic and structural issues, including problems with client buy-in, session structure, treatment structure, treatment targeting, subtypes, diary cards, alliance ruptures, and chain and solution analyses.
